Plagiarism (this story also is true of urinals)

So, I am feeling particularly lazy today, so I am going to do what any reasonably lazy person ought to do, and I am going to rip off someone else to write my blog for me. In college I roomed with this guy named Nathan Lamb, and he was quite particular about things, (hi nate if you are reading this). His blog was fascinating to me (although it hasn't been updated in two years) Anywho, here is a story in his words that I think is funny--partially because it involves my brother, Eric and I. It was posted on April 20th, 2002.

Take it Nate!

"I'm pretty ticked off at the moment. I just lost an entry. i typed an entry, then saw the more options button below.. and thought.."hey.. i want to put a mood".. so i clicked for more options, and all my typing disappeared. i click "back", and still, all i had just typed.. gone. stupid site.
anyhow.. last night I saw frailty. and again.. it was a freaky movie. anyhow... i saw it with my roommate Jeff, and his brother Eric. When we went into the theatre... there was enough people in there to where you might have to sacrifice the at-least-one-seat-away from a stranger rule. BUT... there was ONE spot where we all three could sit together.. and..being one seat away from a stranger. Eric was leading us, and we get to the row, and Eric sits right next to a stranger. The only opportunity to sit one seat away from a stranger, and he totally disregards it. I could see the disapointment and bewilderment on the strangers face. He was alone, late 20's. He obviously wanted to enjoy a night alone while throwing himself into a movie, but no, some stranger (in this case, Eric) had to sit in the seat right next to him when he could've easily sat one seat away.
I know how the stranger feels because i've been in the strangers shoes before. it's happened to me at chic-fil-a.. wendy's...quizno's and even the cafeteria. it's one of the most aggravating experiences. you have space around you, and some person comes along, with plenty of other options as to where to sit, and they chose to violate your space.. yes.. YOUR space. when this happens.. i want to get up and say, "Hey.. take a look over there... why couldn't you've sat over there? what's so special about sitting here? Go away, I just want to sit here and eat without anyone around me.. can't you see??" well anyway.. perhaps i have problems."

btw, the picture is by stephen gilpin. A children's book illustrator I went to high school with.

Twins

So what does one do with a graphic design/arts background in seminary? Not much. However, there are times when knowing photoshop can be fun and educational, kids. Mostly, I have used my design training for forces of good, like spring banquet programs. However, there are moments when I have felt mischevious, and the pictures shown here are the type of results. When my pals Ehren and Lisa got married, I made them something that I dubbed, Calendar O'Nagel. Ehren, the bearded one in the relationship, rarely has not had a beard, and I happened to have a picture of him without it. So, I photoshopped his bare face and head with a variety of hairstyles--one for each month. Shown here is one with the old guy whose beard I snitched as well as Mr. Nagel himself with updated facial hair.

Funny, come to think of it, I have never seen the Calendar O'Nagel up anywhere in the Lundeen Nagel household. hmmm.

In college I roomed with three other guys, and we had varying degrees of photo manipulation skills. We would use eachother's college id pictures and paste eachother's heads on nude pregnant women and such. Good to see what a college education can be used for.

Btw, click on Ehren for a larger image.

Macabre. creepy not scary

I happen to be a big Edward Gorey fan. Well, actually that is an overstatement because I know only a bit of his work, but I like it quite a bit.

I found an archive of several of his books in pdf form that can be found here. http://www.geocities.com/burton_nothing/GOREY/

To inifinity and beyond.

This is the type of artist I want to be

I am a lazy bum, so I thought I would post SOMETHING on my blog. I have never heard of this guy, but apparently he is some cartoonist that lives in my hometown in Kansas. I haven't seen any of his stuff, but I got a good laugh at the crappy cartoon in the background. But not as much as I did at this guy himself. What is he train conductor? A mime? Ah, local color.

Here is a link to the article. Loser Cartoonist
